San Diego’s first all-electric Ferries
We’re proud to share that Flagship is building California’s first-ever, fully electric ferries, designed to carry up to 275 passengers between San Diego and Coronado—all with zero emissions. These sleek, quiet vessels are the future of bay transit: clean, efficient, and powered entirely by electricity. Whether you’re commuting across the bay or enjoying a scenic ride, you’ll soon be traveling in comfort while helping protect the air and water we all love. It's a bold step toward a greener future, and we're thrilled to have you aboard.

Charting the Course
Vessel & Infrastructure Design
Each vessel will be developed and designed to prioritize marine-optimized, light weight, modular, and future-upgradable equipment and materials.
Shipyard Partnership Contracting
The project will undergo a competitive bid process to ensure shipyard bidders are optimal, qualified, and equitable.
Vessel
Construction
The two vessels will be constructed in phases. The second vessel will be constructed once the first vessel has been rigorously tested and perfected.
Charger Installation
EVITP-certified electricians will be contracted to reconfigure existing dockside shore power equipment and install a fast-charging commercially available charger at each dock.
Testing & Training Phase
Extensive dock trials and sea trials will be conducted to ensure regulatory compliance and demonstration readiness.
Set Sail in 2026
A phased deployment schedule will be adhered to as to ensure the zero-emission vessels are available for community use as soon as possible.
Powered by the California Air Resources Board
The California Air Resources Board's Sustainable Heavy-Duty Initiatives for Future Technology (SHIFT) is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide initiative that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment, particularly in disadvantaged communities.
